I am deeply saddened to report that retired ACI Special Agent Steve Burkart passed away yesterday (13 July) of natural causes. Steve was a retired SFC and was the premier Investigator for Company A, 527th MI Bn, 66th MI Bde. I was fortunate to attend the second iteration of AFCITC with Steve in the summer of 1986. Steve was a true professional and a wonderful human being. His humor and kindness will be missed.

After retiring in 1995 from his 22 year career with the Army,15 years of which as an ACI Special Agent, Steve went on to become an author who published several books on espionage and tradecraft. You can find additional information on Steve's second career as an author at: https://steveburkartbooks.com/

Thanks to Bill Ray for originally posting about Steve's death on the 527 MI Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/429766323791680/permalink/9581317698636451/?rdid=Xc7dF1b2C76lxrNo

I do not have any details related to any funeral arrangements or memorial service for Steve. If any of you become aware of any details I respectfully request you post email them to us at info@acisaa.org.

Served with Steve at B Company, 519th MI in the early 80's and ran into him again at the Heidelberg Resident Office in the early 90's. Rest in Peace Ancient Warrior.
