Over the past two weeks we've had two major hurricanes strike the southeast. Hurricane Helene caused widespread damage and destruction through parts of Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. Hurricane Milton barreled through central Florida, first striking the area between Tampa and Sarasota, before crossing the state and moving northeast through Orlando and Sanford.
We have many current and former Army CI personnel and their families who reside in the affected areas. I've spent a good portion of today reaching out to my own family members in Florida, as well as several retired Army CI folks I know in Florida, Georgia, and North & South Carolina. Most are safe, although many are without power. I have been unable to establish contact with the widow of another former ACI friend of mine who resided in the hardest hit area of western North Carolina.
I request that any of our membership who has been affected by either or both of these hurricanes to please check in with an email to our info@acisaa.org email address and let us know if you need assistance or simply that you and your family are safe.
Additionally, I and the entire ACISAA Board of Directors encourage all of our membership to reach out and conduct "Buddy Checks" on any current and former Army CI personnel you know in the areas affected by these two hurricanes. Several ACISAA members belong to or have contacts with various NGO groups that are active with relief efforts. If we know who needs assistance and what type of assistance they need, we can attempt to get the necessary resources to them.
